The photo doesn’t do it justice, or at least that’s my excuse for why it doesn’t look precisely like Duncan, but it’s the first face I’ve ever carved that is supposed to look like someone.
I’ve done an outline engraving of Jacob, but it wasn’t in relief. In relief, I have to pay attention to how the light falls on the features. It’s the play of light and shadow that makes the lines.
10” diameter, total depth of relief here is 0 to 1/4 inch.
