Darwin on the Origin of Species

The Atlantic finally opened its archives, and this gem really stood out for me for a number of reasons: 1) it’s a primary source, being the immediate reaction to Darwin’s work in the time and mindset of the people of the day, and 2) it’s so well written it should be required reading for anyone attempting to be a writer or reporter, including bloggers, including yours truly. I wish that I could produce something half as astute and rise to the challenge, but at least being able to recognize the presence of sedulously crafted prose such as this is a start.
